What’s the Difference Between Sleep and Hibernate in Windows?

Sleep mode

All actions on the computer are stopped and any open documents and applications are put in memory. You can quickly resume normaloperation within a few seconds. Sleep mode is basically the same thing as “Standby” mode.

Pro: Faster wake-up
Con: Still uses power

The Hibernate mode saves your open documents and running applications to your hard disk and shuts down the computer.

Pro: 0 power consumption
Con: Somewhat slower wake-up

To confusing? Simply do what I do and use the regular shut-down :)
